Together with the Darwin Fringe Festival, Fringe goers on Saturday 20th July 2024 were invited to join the Arafura Wind Ensemble - Conductor Stephen Peverly on a “bell-inspired” musical journey and a premier performance of a specially-commissioned piece of music by Kieran Hurley that incorporates the “Beagle Bells” in Civic Park, Darwin. The Arafura Wind Ensemble performed inside the space near the larger “Bells” and was closely connected to its audience who were invited to share the space in, and around, the smaller “Bells”.

Kieran Hurley is a highly experienced Australian composer, and music arranger and is an Executive Member (WA) of the Music Arrangers Guild of Australia Inc. Kieran has collaborated with AWE on previous occasions. Kieran is also a well-respected and sought after trombonist and music educator. He holds the position of Director of Music at Guildford Grammar School in Perth Western Australia.
